For this post, I have put together a collection of the best rice cookers currently available.

The typical rice cooker consists of a "bowl within a bowl". The outer housing of the unit contains an inner cooking pot for the rice along with an element and temperature monitor.
Operation is fairly straightforward but differs slightly by manufacturer. However, the standard steps are placing the rice in the bowl, filling it with the measured amount of water and turning it on. Once the rice has completely absorbed the water it allows the temperature to exceed the boiling point which automatically shuts it off or enter a warming mode.
Some models offer a range of cooking menu settings and timer options. Typical cooking time varies based on the device and amount of rice but is generally around 20 minutes to one hour.
Depending on the type of cooker, some feature the ability to pressure cook which helps to keep the cooking time constant since it is not affected by atmospheric pressure.
