How Do You Wrap an Egg Roll?
To wrap an egg roll, first lay out a wrapper with one corner pointing towards you. Spread some of the filling in the center of the wrapper, leaving about an inch of space on all sides. Then, fold up the bottom corner closest to you, and bring it up over the filling. Next, fold in the two side corners, and roll the egg roll up from the bottom, making sure it’s tight as you go. Finally, wet the remaining top corner with a little water, and press it down to seal.
What Can You Put in Egg Rolls?
The possibilities are endless when it comes to filling your egg rolls. Get creative and use whatever you like! We are making a basic egg roll using the typical ingredients you think of when when you get Chinese takeout. However, here are some more ideas to add in with the filling I am using:
- Cooked chicken, ground beef or pork – Add in some Vidalia onions, garlic, and your favorite seasonings for an extra flavor boost.
- Shrimp – Cook the shrimp until they’re pink, and add them to the egg rolls with some shredded cabbage and carrots.
- Vegetables – fill the Air Fryer egg rolls with more veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and Vidalia onions.
- Cheese – Add in some shredded cheese. You can use cheddar, mozzarella, American cheese, or whatever your favorite melty cheese is.
- Rice – Cook up some rice and add it to the egg rolls with your favorite protein.
How Long Do Egg Rolls Keep?
Egg Rolls will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you want to keep them longer, you can freeze them for up to 2 months.
Make sure the egg rolls are cooled before storing. Then, wrap them tightly in freezer-safe wrap, or place them in a freezer-safe bag. This will protect them from getting freezer burn. We like to place all of them together in a freezer bag to keep them together in one place.
When you’re ready to eat, simply thaw them overnight in the fridge and then reheat in the air fryer or oven. If you reheat the egg rolls in the microwave, they will get heated but they will also be soggy. Plus, they might have hard parts that get overcooked. If you choose to use the microwave, watch the egg rolls carefully and heat until just hot throughout. Do NOT overheat.
