Air Fryer Pasta Chips

Admin

One of TikTok’s viral recipes, air-fried pasta chips are the perfect way to use up leftover pasta. They’re simple to make, and frying them in the air fryer makes them extra crispy. I warn you—these are the perfect, addictive snack! Serve these with marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, or pesto!

I don’t really use TikTok, but I see viral recipes on Facebook a lot. There was feta pasta, the tortilla wrap hack, pancake cereal, and the list goes on and on! I’m making it my goal this year to use TikTok a bit more and maybe post on it. Anyway, these chips are seriously addicting. I made these at my in-law’s house and with every batch I made, it was gone within seconds! I didn’t follow the exact recipe that went viral—I wanted to make this my own. Instead of using Italian seasoning, I used different seasonings such as dried basil, parsley, and thyme. I wanted a little heat, so I added a dash of cayenne as well. I’m sure the OG recipe tastes wonderful, but I thought my chips were amazing!

How to make Air Fryer Pasta Chips

I used lasagna noodles (since it was leftover from lasagna), but you can use rigatoni, farfalle, or penne for this. Feel free to experiment with different seasonings. I recommend trying a dessert chip with cinnamon sugar and butter! (Full ingredient amounts and complete instructions are available in the recipe card down below).

  • Leftover Pasta: I used lasagna noodles and cut them into strips, however, you can use penne, rigatoni, or farfalle. Those are the standard noodles that I see used for this.
  • Parmesan Cheese: This adds great flavor and gets crispy in the air fryer as well. I added a little extra after air-frying.
  • Seasonings: For the seasonings, I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, dried parsley, and dried thyme. For a little heat, I added just a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: To coat the pasta before frying.

In a bowl, combine all ingredients together, mixing well to coat the noodles. Preheat your air fryer. Working in batches, air fry at 390F for 12-15 minutes. Toss the pasta around by shaking the basket every so often so you can get an evenly crispy chip. Serve with extra salt and cheese sprinkled on top. Dip in marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, or pesto.

Tips & FAQs

  • Storage: While best enjoyed soon after being made, they will keep up to 5 days. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
  • Every air fryer is different! I use the Ninja Foodi 11-1 pro. Times may vary depending on your air fryer—you may have to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • What kind of pasta can I use? Any pasta works! You can use rigatoni, penne, ziti, or farfalle.
  • I don’t own an air fryer. Can I make these in the oven? Absolutely! Preheat your oven to 400F. Spread the pasta chip onto a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes. They won’t come out as crispy, but they’ll still taste delicious.
  • Can I use whole wheat/gluten-free? Any pasta will work. Cook the pasta 1 minute from al dente, not a minute more. You’ll get the perfect crisp by doing that.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket. You won’t get crispy chips if it’s overcrowded. It needs to be air fried in a single layer.
