My Goals for 2022: Week 9 of 52

admin

This post contains affiliate links.  Do you ever have one of those weeks where you feel like you’re heading down the rapids in a river, and you’re just trying to keep your head above water?  That’s been my week.  But, it’s been a good kind of busy, and despite the hectic week, I made a good dent in some of my goals for 2022:

My Goals for 2023

Personal Development

My kids are older now, so I have a bit more time to devote to personal development.  So, these are the items I’d like to accomplish this year:

Write in my journal for 150 days

6% accomplished.  I wrote once this week; I’m up to nine times for the year.

Crochet an afghan for our bed

No progress this week.

Try 52 new recipes

11.5% accomplished.  No new recipes this week.

These are all the new recipes I tried this year:

Ham, Broccoli & Cheddar Frittata,

Slow Cooker Broccoli, Cheddar, and Potato Soup (left out the canned soup & used almond milk and Daiya cheese)

Chicken Sausage, Pepper & Cauliflower Rice Skillet, (the family LOVED this one)

Baked Pork Tenderloin,

Mulligatawny Soup,

Slow Cooker Lentil Veggie Soup,

Read 30 books

2023 Reading Challenge

23% accomplished.  I didn’t finish any books this week, but I have two I’ve almost completed. You can read what I have in store for my reading challenge in 2023 in this blog post.

I have read seven books in 2023:

Sophia’s War (review coming soon)

Gwendy’s Button Box

Mildred Cable

Mission to Cathay,

Fairy Tale

Copper Sun

Cure the Fear of Homeschooling High School

Volunteer 100 or more hours

13.75% accomplished. We volunteered 3 hours this week, bringing our total to 13.75 hours this year.

Spend an average of two hours a week on researching my genealogy through June (52 hours total)

7.2% accomplished.  No research this week, and 3.75 hours for the year.

Health

Since a few months into the pandemic, I’ve focused on getting healthier.  This year, I plan to complete the weight-loss component of that journey.

Follow Weight Watchers or Healthi to help me lose the last 40 to 45 pounds I need to lose

Not going to lie.  On the struggle bus with this one.

Exercise an average of 18000 minutes (300 hours) this year

My Goals for 2023

5.5% accomplished.  I exercised 201 minutes this week.  I have exercised a grand total of 999 minutes this year so far.

Adventure/Family Time

Bookworm is in college in Michigan and the girls are getting older, so my husband and I want to prioritize family time before we’re empty nesters.

Visit 26 attractions

Our Quick Trip to Rochester New York

7.9% accomplished.  No trips this week; I’m hoping we can smash this goal in the summer.  Here are the trips we’ve taken so far:

Rochester Museum & Science Center (review coming soon)

Trip to Rochester.

Spend 60,000 minutes (1000 hours) outdoors with the kids

1.5% accomplished.  We spent 200 minutes outside this week.  So, we’ve spent 924 minutes outdoors this year.

I really don’t know if we’ll accomplish 1000 hours, but this goal is one that even if we fail, we win.  Because we have this goal, we’re consciously spending more time outdoors.

Organization/Home Management

I have felt unorganized since June when we started prepping for our move.  I really dislike feeling so scattered, so I’m planning to change that this year.

Stay ahead in my writing.

For my blog, have at least 5 posts written in advance at any point in time.  For my paid writing, I’d like to be a week ahead.

Currently, I’m 1/2 of a week ahead on my paid writing, and I have 0 post written in advance for my blog.

Have at least 12 freezer meals available in the freezer at any point in time.

Thanks to a freezer cooking session two weekends ago, I now have 17 meals in the freezer.  I have the following meals:

Sloppy Joes (2 meals)

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken  (2 meals)

Slow Cooker Fajitas (2 meals)

Slow Cooker Lentil Veggie Soup (1 meal)

BBQ Smoked Sausage & Lima Beans (2 meals)

Chili (2 meals)

Beefy Kale Tomato Soup. (4 meals)

Ground Chicken & Hashbrown Patties (1 meal)

Slow Cooker Lentil Veggie Soup (1 meal)

Spend an average of three hours a week on administrative homeschool tasks (156 hours for the year)

12.6% accompished. I spent 3 hour on homeschool activities this week, mainly completing Cuddle Bug’s assignments for the next quarter and grading.  Next week, I’ll write out PB & J Girl’s assignments for the next quarter.   So far, I’ve spent 19.75 hours this year on administrative homeschool tasks.

Get rid of 40 bags of clutter

10% complete.  Nothing new this week. We currently have three bags of clutter and one small table to donate.

That’s it.  These are my ambitious goals for 2023. I’ll update them weekly as I have for the last several years.

What goals have you set for the new year?
